How to Get There

Attain the Rio/Galeao Airport (GIG) and take the Uber that will take you 30 mins to get to the ticket counter (Bilheteria Corcovado) at the bottom of the hill. From there, you’ll be able to take the train for 20 minutes or take a three-hour climb to the top of the monument. You can also take an official van from many locations in the city, including Copacabana Beach, and it will end in being less expensive and quicker than the train or the hike (but most likely not as beautiful). Once you reach the base, you’ll need to climb a few levels before the statue appears.

You can really spend the time you want on high on Christ the Redeemer. Some prefer to climb higher in the afternoon, and then stay until sunset, which occurs between 5:15-6.40 in the evening, depending on the season (the longest day is in June and the longest in December).

We personally only went up for about 20 minutes in the mountains, however, you could certainly spend more time. It’s up to you!
