Day by day
Day 1: Puerto Montt, Chile – Embarkation
Your Patagonian expedition begins in Puerto Montt, Chile. Boarding takes place between 15:00 and 16:00 hrs at the designated pier.
After completing mandatory safety briefings and settling into your cabin, the ship departs toward the Gulf of Corcovado, marking the start of an unforgettable journey through Chile’s fjords.

Day 2: Puyuhuapi Channel & Aysén Region
Sailing south into the Aysén region, today is dedicated to exploring the stunning Puyuhuapi Channel and its surrounding landscapes.
Weather permitting, landings may be attempted at Puerto Cisnes, Puyuhuapi, or Magdalena Island. This area is rich in marine life, offering opportunities to spot dolphins, whales, sea lions, cormorants, and river otters, surrounded by lush fjords and remote islands.

Day 3: San Rafael National Park & Chonos Archipelago
The ship enters the Chonos Archipelago, cruising through the Moraleda Channel toward San Rafael National Park, a UNESCO biosphere reserve.
This park is the gateway to the Northern Patagonian Ice Field, where glaciers, fjords, and dramatic ice formations dominate the scenery. Weather permitting, the expedition team will guide explorations of the surrounding channels and coves

Day 4: Day at Sea – Gulf of Penas
Today is spent sailing across the Gulf of Penas, one of Patagonia’s most scenic open-water passages.
Enjoy panoramic views of rugged mountain ranges while the expedition team shares engaging presentations on Patagonia’s indigenous cultures, early explorers, and marine biodiversity, including stories of Darwin, Fitz Roy, and Alberto de Agostini.

Day 5: Caleta Tortel & Messier Channel
In the morning, weather permitting, visit the charming village of Caleta Tortel, uniquely built on wooden walkways along the coast. Its Chilotan-style stilt houses and cypress boardwalks offer a rare glimpse into remote Patagonian life.
Later, the ship continues south through the Messier Channel, navigating the dramatic English Narrows, just 18 meters wide, providing spectacular views of glaciers from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field.

Day 6: Bernardo O’Higgins National Park – Glacier Exploration
Today features a Zodiac excursion into Bernardo O’Higgins National Park, exploring the Amalia Glacier or surrounding glaciers along Peel Fjord.
Cruise among ice floes and towering ice walls, witnessing the brilliant blue hues and rugged textures of the glacier. Wildlife sightings may include dolphins, condors, cormorants, and otters amid snow-capped peaks.

Day 7: Strait of Magellan & Tierra del Fuego
Sailing through the legendary Strait of Magellan, the expedition explores fjords branching off Tierra del Fuego.
The route passes near Francisco Coloane Marine Park, a protected feeding ground for whales. With luck, guests may spot humpback or sei whales, along with dolphins, seals, sea lions, penguins, albatrosses, and petrels.

Day 8: Beagle Channel & Garibaldi Fjord
Cruise through the iconic Beagle Channel, a narrow passage dividing Chile and Argentina, framed by the snow-covered Darwin Range.
Sail along Glacier Alley, home to the Holanda, Italia, Francia, Alemania, and Romanche glaciers, before reaching the dramatic Garibaldi Fjord, where steep mountain walls and ice formations create one of the most striking landscapes of the voyage.

Day 9: Ushuaia, Argentina – Disembarkation
Arrive in Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world, during the morning.
After breakfast, disembark at the pier, marking the end of your extraordinary Patagonia & Chilean Fjords Expedition.

Need to know
- Meals on arrival and departure days depend on flight times. If your flight lands early in the morning or leaves late in the evening, Akshar Travels will arrange the meals for that day.
- If a sight is closed on the day it is scheduled, we will replace it with a comparable sight on the same tour.
- Hotel check-in is usually 3:00 pm and check-out is usually 12:00 noon. Early check-in and late check-out are subject to availability and may carry a charge.
