Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a visa application take?
Processing times vary by destination and visa type. Tourist visas for Dubai or Thailand are often issued within 3 to 5 business days. US B1/B2, Canadian, and UK visas can take 4 to 12 weeks depending on consulate workload. We recommend starting at least 8 to 10 weeks before your travel date.
Do I need to visit your office in person?
Not always. Many services can be handled remotely. You send your documents by courier and we process everything on your behalf. For certain applications that require an in-person appointment at a consulate, we will let you know exactly what is needed.
Can you handle visa applications for our whole family?
Yes. We manage group applications for families traveling together, keeping track of each member's documents and deadlines to ensure all paperwork is consistent and complete.
What happens if my visa gets rejected?
We analyze the reason for denial, advise on whether to appeal or reapply, and help build a stronger application with additional supporting documents. Our pre-submission review process significantly reduces rejection risk in the first place.
My passport expires in 6 months. Do I need to renew before traveling?
Most countries require at least 6 months of passport validity beyond your travel dates. Airlines can also deny boarding regardless of destination rules. We verify the exact requirement for your destination and advise whether renewal is needed.
Can I apply for an OCI card from California or Texas?
Yes. We handle OCI applications for clients in all US states. You do not need to be near our offices. You mail your documents to us and we coordinate with the consulate on your behalf.
Can I apply for a Schengen visa from the US if I am an Indian passport holder?
Yes. Indian nationals living in the US on a valid visa or green card can apply for a Schengen visa from the US. You apply through the consulate of the country where you will spend the most time during your trip. For example, if you are spending 5 days in France and 2 days in Italy, you apply at the French consulate. Akshar Tours handles Schengen visa applications for Indian passport holders across all US states, including document preparation, appointment coordination, and pre-submission review.
Do Indian passport holders need a visa to visit Japan from the US?
Yes. Indian passport holders require a tourist visa to visit Japan regardless of where they are based. If you are living in the US, you apply through the Consulate General of Japan in your jurisdiction. The Japan tourist visa requires a confirmed itinerary, hotel bookings, bank statements, and proof of US residency such as a valid visa or green card. Processing typically takes 5 to 7 business days after your application is submitted. Akshar Tours handles Japan visa applications for Indian nationals living across all US states.
