OCI Card Consulting for Iselin, Edison and All of New Jersey

New Jersey has one of the largest Indian-origin communities in the United States. Families live across Edison, Iselin, Woodbridge, Jersey City, Parsippany, Princeton, Cherry Hill, Monroe and many other towns. For anyone of Indian origin who now holds a US passport, the OCI card makes India easy again. It gives lifelong visa-free entry to India. It also lets you live, work and study there without applying for a separate visa. Many New Jersey households need several applications at once, for a spouse, parents and US-born children, and we handle them together.

OCI applications from New Jersey fall under the Consulate General of India in New York. We coordinate the submission to the correct place for your application, so you do not need to work that out yourself. Our head office is at 1183 Green St, Iselin, NJ 08830. Walk-ins are welcome. You can bring your documents in for review and ask your questions face to face. If you live further away, in Cherry Hill, Princeton or Parsippany, you can complete the same process by phone, email and document courier. Either way, one person looks after your file from start to finish.

We handle new OCI applications, OCI for spouses and children, and OCI updates after a new passport. PIO to OCI conversion ended on December 31, 2025. If you still hold an old PIO card, you now apply for OCI as a new application, and we guide you through it. Not sure which application fits your situation? We tell you on the first call or visit. We also check every document before it goes in. Small errors cause most delays, such as a photo that misses the specification or a name spelled two different ways.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Indian consulate handles OCI applications from New Jersey?

The Consulate General of India in New York handles OCI applications from New Jersey and nearby states. Applications from Edison, Iselin, Woodbridge, Jersey City, Parsippany, Princeton, Cherry Hill, Monroe and the rest of New Jersey fall under that jurisdiction. Akshar Tours coordinates the full process for New Jersey clients, from your document checklist to the final submission.

Can I visit your Iselin office for OCI application help?

Yes. Our head office is at 1183 Green St, Iselin, NJ 08830, and walk-ins are welcome. You can bring your documents for review, get help with the application and ask questions in person. If the drive is long, we can also handle everything by phone, email and document courier instead.

How long does OCI processing take from New Jersey?

Current processing through the New York consulate is approximately 8 to 16 weeks. The exact time depends on your application type and the consulate's workload. Volumes can rise around Indian government holidays and peak travel seasons, so apply well before you plan to fly. We track your application throughout and tell you if your expected timeline changes.

Who is eligible for an OCI card in New Jersey?

Most people of Indian origin who now hold a US passport are eligible. Children and grandchildren of eligible people can also apply. The foreign spouse of an Indian citizen or OCI holder is eligible once the marriage has lasted at least two years. We confirm your eligibility on the first call or visit, before you gather any documents.

Do I need to renew my OCI card when I renew my US passport?

Not always. If your OCI card was issued before age 20, you need a new OCI card once, the first time you get a new passport after turning 20. In most other cases, a new passport means updating your passport details on the OCI portal instead. Rules do change, so we check your case first. We handle re-issues and updates for New Jersey clients.

What if my OCI application is rejected or delayed?

Most setbacks come from photo specification errors, names spelled differently across documents, or missing supporting papers. Our pre-submission review is built to catch these before your file goes in. If your application is still delayed, returned or rejected, we find the reason and help you prepare a corrected application. Approval always rests with the Government of India.
