OCI Card Consulting for Seattle and the Pacific Northwest

The Seattle area has one of the fastest-growing Indian-origin communities in the country, spread across Bellevue, Redmond, Sammamish, Kirkland, Bothell and Issaquah, with Portland, Hillsboro and Beaverton close behind and smaller communities in Boise, Omaha and Spokane. For families of Indian origin living in the Pacific Northwest, the OCI card is the document that lets you travel to India without a visa for life and live, work and study there when you choose to.

OCI applications from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota go to the Consulate General of India in Seattle, which opened in 2023, through the VFS Global application centre that serves it. Before the consulate opened, applications from this region went to San Francisco, and many families still assume they do. Akshar Tours files with the right consulate for your state and manages the whole process by phone, email and courier.

We handle new OCI applications, OCI updates and reissue after a new passport, OCI for spouses and children, and new OCI applications for former PIO card holders, since PIO to OCI conversion ended on December 31, 2025. Whether you live in Bellevue, Redmond, Seattle, Tacoma, Portland, Boise or Omaha, the same person runs your case from the first call until the card is in your hand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Indian consulate handles OCI applications from Washington State?

The Consulate General of India in Seattle covers Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. Applications from Bellevue, Redmond, Seattle, Portland, Boise and the rest of the region go through the VFS Global centre that serves that consulate. Akshar Tours prepares and files the application and tracks it until the card arrives.

I used to send my applications to San Francisco. Has that changed?

Yes. Since the Seattle consulate opened, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, Nebraska and the Dakotas file through Seattle, not San Francisco. An application sent to the wrong consulate is returned, which costs weeks. We confirm the right consulate for your address before anything is filed.

Do I need to travel to New Jersey to use Akshar Tours?

No. We work with Pacific Northwest clients entirely by phone, email and document courier. You stay in Washington or Oregon throughout the process. We send you a courier guide with the address and how to pack your documents safely.

How long does OCI processing take from Seattle?

Current processing through the Seattle consulate is approximately 8 to 16 weeks from the day the documents reach it. Volumes rise around Indian holidays and the summer travel season. We track the application and tell you when it moves, so you can plan travel around it.

Who is eligible for an OCI card in Washington or Oregon?

Any Indian-born person who has become a US citizen is eligible. Children and grandchildren of someone who was an Indian citizen can also apply. Spouses of Indian citizens or OCI holders are eligible if the marriage has lasted at least two years. We confirm your eligibility on the first call, before you gather any documents.

What if my OCI application is delayed or sent back for correction?

Most OCI setbacks come from photo specification errors, name mismatches across documents, or missing supporting papers. Our check before filing is designed to catch these. If your application is delayed, returned or needs a correction, we tell you the reason and handle the resubmission.
